With a /28 netmask the 172.21.1.112 address is a network address and can not be assigned to any boxes.

So 172.21.1.112 can not be assigned as a default gateway.

The format is <SENSORIP>/<NETMASK>,<GATEWAYIP></GATEWAYIP></NETMASK></SENSORIP>

So either there was confusion about the format and you put in the network address instead the default router address.

Or you entered the wrong netmask value.

Or your router has been misconfigured and should not have been assigned a .112 address.

With /28 netmask the .112 is the network, .113-.126 can be assigned to actual machines (one for the sensor and one for the router), .127 is the broadcast address.

When i try to change the network setting of an IDS 4250 (host-ip and host-name). It returns the following:

sensor(config-hos-net)# host-ip 172.21.1.115/28,172.21.1.112

sensor(config-hos-net)# exit

sensor(config-hos)# exit

Apply Changes:?[yes]:

Error: editConfigDeltaHost : Could not restart the network services

The configuration changes failed validation, no changes were applied.

Would you like to return to edit mode to correct the errors? [yes]:

I do not understand what is happening.

Any sugestion?
