Firepower subscription term counts down

How does the term of Firepower subscriptions count down? from the date of purchase or the date of activation?

A client has purchased IPS and AMP subscriptions with Firepower 4110 about 3 months ago but none is installed. Do they still have one year term to use?

FTD Smart license subscriptions begin counting when they are provisioned to the customer's Smart account (during order fulfillment).

You may be able to get a one time adjustment via the Cisco Account Manager in a case such as you describe.

Marvin is correct, license begins when order is placed. You can also set the start date of the license start (upto a year into the future I believe) when the order is placed.
