The only method that I have found is to upgrade the software image using tftp; in short, this requires:

CTRL+R during boot-up

Uses rommon (same as PIX) and you will need to upgrade the IDS image.

Will reset to cisco/cisco.

The use of tftp only applies to the IDS-4215.

If you have console access to any other Cisco IDS device, you can pick the recovery partition from the LILO boot menu. This will force the appliance to re-image itself, setting the 'cisco' account password back to the default.

I hope this helps,

Alex Arndt

Just be aware that you will loose all the custom config and tuning of the sigs when you pick the recovery partition. But this is the only method you can recover the password.
