I tried to find the official EOL announcement for version 4.x and couldn't.

So I am not sure what the official dates are.

Unofficially my understanding is that Signature Updates for 4.1(4) sensors will continue for at least 6 months after release of version 5.0(1).

So I am expecting to see 4.1(4) signature updates until at least the end of August.

NOTE: There will be some signatures that can not be created for version 4.1(4) and can only be created in version 5.0(1) with a new engine, so these signatures would not be in the 4.1(4) signature updates.

All IDS-4210, IDS-4215, IDS-4235, IDS-4250, IPS-4240, IPS-4255, IDSM-2, and NM-CIDS sensors that are under valid SmartNET contracts can be upgraded to version 5.0(1) when released.

The only sensors supported by version 4.1(4) that are not supported by version 5.0(1) are the older IDS-4220 and IDS-4230 sensors

Based on the info posted, it would appear that 4.1 support will be extended until next May.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/prod_eol_notice0900aecd801d74d2.html

Perhaps I'm misreading something? In any case, there is no specific announcement about v4.1 EOL on the info page. For those who aren't aware, this info can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/prod_eol_notices_list.html

Alex Arndt
