The SDM says the browser is unsupported, but it works fine.

I am still trying to solve the problem with PC/Windows/IE platform.

SDM problem to launch IPS

I encountered a problem trying to launch the IPS from SDM. All other functions of SDM that I tried (eg. interfaces configuration, firewall configuration, SDM update, etc) works fine, but when I clicked on the button to "Launch IPS..." from the Configuration Intrusion Prevention System, an error occured. I tried this using different Windows, two different Java and two versions of SDM. I removed all Firewall utilities on the PCs. Always the same problem - an error message from Internet Explorer and on the Java console. I run into this problem working either as simple user or as Administrator of the PC.

1. The used environment is as below:

Cisco 3640 with IOS 12.3(11)T3

Windows 2000 Pro SP4 and Windows XP Pro SP2

Internet Explorer IE6.0

JRE 1.4.2_06 and Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 1.5.0

SDM2.0 and SDM2.0a (after update via SDM)

2. The message displayed by IE is:

Problem with the Web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly.

line 37

char 5

Error invalid argument

code 0

url http://(router address)/archive/flash:sdm/sdm/runSDM.shtml?

	sdmFS=flash:&homeFS=flash:

3. The Java console message is:

Invoking JSmethod: startApp

netscape.javascript.JSException

I will be very gratefull if someone can help me to solve this problem, as the SDM would give me a very nice access to IPS configuration.

Ioannis

--------------------------------------------

Dr. Ioannis Bellas-Velidis

NOANET Administrator

NAtional Observatory of Athens, Greece

--------------------------------------------

Did you configure the initial IPS confog using the CLI ? If not do that first using the following document,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5207/products_feature_guide09186a00802e0476.html#wp1110576

Yes, I configured firstly the IPS via the CLI, attached it to an interface and it seems to work OK. I can change the IPS configuration via the CLI, but I can not access it via the SDM.

If you are using IPS via SDM on a Windows (2000 or XP), please let me know wich Java version do you use.
