Are you talking about the sensor configuration?

If so then you can use the IDS MC to maintain copies of the sensor configurations.

Or you can copy the sensors configuration off to a ftp or scp server using the sensor's copy command:

copy current-config ftp://user@server/directory/configfilename

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/csids10/cmdref/15599ch2.htm#wp377910

If after a disaster you want the config back then:

1) Reload the software (or use the recover application-partition command:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/csids10/cmdref/15599ch2.htm#wp378764)

2) Login using the default cisco account with default cisco password.

3) Run setup to setup the basic networking parameters.

4) Use the upgrade command to upgrade back to the previous service pack and signature level from the last time you saved the config.

NOTE: When re-applying the config it must be re-applied back to the same version (including sig level) it was copied from to avoid errors.

5) Use the copy command to copy the config file from the ftp or scp server into the sensor as the current-config:

copy ftp://user@server/directory/configfilename current-config
