So this is weird I was in a customers' environment as this pertains to that. I am running java 8 update 161 and was able to run ASDM client just fine but the client was not. I ended up downloading the ASDM client on a view desktop and the customer was able to access it that way.

I am trying to get into the ASA to check some settings and it is giving me the error of "Unable to Launch Device Manager" I was in on Thursday with the same credentials so I am not sure what is going on. Also, we need the ASDM client so that we can load the client on a different machine and it still says we don't have a license with Cisco to download anything. I did reach out to an outside source and he was able to help to download the ASDM client on a view desktop. My question is why would it not allow me to download a newer version of the ASDM client.

https://IP_of_ASA/admin should give you access to download ASDM as long as your source IP is present on the

show run http config. The interface you hit when connecting is also important!

So post show run http, show run route and IP_source from where you try to connect.

What version of Java are you on?

I had this problem yesterday and after digging around on the internet, the one thing that worked for me was uninstalled java (it was on version 😎 and downloading version 6 update 45.

After using that I went to ASA homepage and clicked the install ASDM.

I have now got in like that but if i try run the ASDM program in my programs it wont launch.

I have to open the installer again and then it does open! mad.

Yes I too found out after doing some more digging that it was a java issue, how frustrating but I got it fixed now.
