CSA v4.5 causes backups to slow down?

Good morning -- Working with a customer who is using CSA v4.5 and Veritas Backup Exec 10.x and is attempting to backup a Windows 2000 File Server (SAN attached) with a high-volume of data. When the backup runs, they noticed that the backups took an EXCESSIVE amount of time to complete.

However, when the CSA agent is stopped, backups complete in the expected amount of time.

My assumption is that this is due to the fact that CSA is monitoring each attempt by B.E. to access a file.

Is there anything we can do to fix this, short of scheduling CSA to be stopped prior to backup?

You could create an application class for the Veritas agent and exclude it from being monitored by CSA. You should test it first using a file monitor and network access control rule (since it probably talks back and forth to the server) to see if you are truly excepting the process from CSA.
