Catalyst Center Sandbox | LAN automation error

I am trying LAN automation in Catalyst Center Sandbox but it is giving an unrealistic error (invalid CLI user)

The credentials are correctly applied and showing success in inventory.

I can see from device CLI session that DNAC is connecting to the device when I do assign/provision, but it never tries to connect to the device when I start LAN automation, so how did it decide the user is invalid ?

is this a bug or a limitation for the sandbox environment

there may be more than 1 credentials in DNAC, & if during LAN-auto u select creds different from those already bound to seed-devices in inventory u may hit this error.

There is only one credential, and you don't have the option to choose one when going through LAN automation

then it looks like another one next bug in DNAC. unfortunately your case doesnt look like TAC-treatable.

Hi,

I'd b inclined to say it's a limitation in Sandbox, based on other experiences. If this would be real environment, you would have to check compatibility matrix (if device version is not supported, you can encounter such messages), and also validate CLI/SNMP device credentials

so the sandbox uses C9kv (virtual), I dont see it in the compatibility matrix, in DNAC inventory it is showing device supported.

However, I got it working! it looks like it was not a fan of username cisco, the sandbox switches was initialized with cisco/cisco credentials. It worked fine for provisioning, but not lan automation! I wonder why. added another new user and it went through.

I spent two days troubleshooting LAN automation and usually use 'cisco/cisco' as the login for my home lab.

Also, just a reminder for people who face these issues: you need to create a CLI login in Design > Network Settings > Device Credentials, as the global login is required to use LAN automation."
