In Unity 4.0.4 SR1, how do I change the Default Call Handler under the "Call Routing" section? The Default Call Handler section is grayed out, and there is no way to change it from Opening Greeting, to some other Call Handler.

The predefined rules are grayed out because they are not intended to be changed. They are "fallback" rules that need to be in place and valid at all times, or else there is the possibility that calls will not be handled properly.

You can basically override the Default Call Handler fallback rule by just adding a new rule above it, with the same criteria as the Default Call Handler rule, but different "send call to" destination. However, be sure tp change the rule order such that your new rule is right above the Default Call Handler rule, but below the Attempt Sign-In rule. If it is above the Attempt Sign-In rule, then subscriber easy message access won't work. Whenever you make changes to the routing tables you want to run some tests to make sure they have the desired affect on different types of incoming calls.

Refer here for more information on routing rules:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a008022cb4e.html

Yes, remember to test the rules after you change the order. If place the new Opening Greeting into the wrong slot, when a call rolls to Unity, it could Attempt to Sign On, instead of your new Opening Greeting. Check the behavior from dialing from the outside, insde and also your VM key on the phone. Unity should be able to understand where you are calling from and look at the tables in Direct Calls.

hope this helps
