Diversity really helps and also using all antenna ports allows for MIMO. Why not just purchase some of the rubber duck antennas for that 3502 you have? Will using that antenna work without diversity, yes it will.

-Scott

3502, disabling Center receive for 4 lead 2.4/5 antenna

Hello,

Wanted to ask what the likely impact/difference will be for the following scenario:

3502e w/ Terrawave 4 wire 2.4/5Ghz MIMO outdoor antenna. Was all excited when I pulled up the referenced model of a 6 wire (so 1:1 for antenna ports) but when I opened the package it was actually a 4 wire. Was sitting on a shelf for a while so not something I can return, but I'm hoping to still use it.

So... By the antenna config options on the 3502, it appears I can deselect diversity for receive and select only L(B)/R(A). As easy as that sounds, how much of a difference would you expect to see with one less receive channel?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Scott.

I do have rubber duck antennas for this, but the TerraWave antenna I have is this one:

http://www.terra-wave.com/shop/80211nac-245-ghz-6-dbi-mimo-outdoor-omnidirectional-antenna-with-rptnc-plug-connectors-6pack-p-1595.html

(except it's a 4 pack, not 6)

Rather beefy item aimed at outdoors. Considering the cost of this item on retail, if I can use it then great, but if the coverage would be diminished so much without the center channel then I'll have to scout for another deal.

That is a good antenna for the 3600, 3700, APs with dual band 4. They are good for outdoor and warehouse but not ideal for office use. Keep that in case you upgrade your AP.

-Scott

oh heck yeah I keeping it around. Watching for a deal on a 3600 if I can snag it.

If you don't mind a bit of extra inquiry, is there a somewhat simple explanation of how the 3600 condenses the 3/6 to 2/2 for antenna ports?
