I newly bought some APs for few zones(inside only) in the warehouse.

The AP model is 'Aironet 1852E', and this series can have antenna up to 4.

The height of warehouse is quite high (=around 15ft), so I bought some cables too. (50ft, 100ft)

Now, the performance of AP is on my hands, but before that, I would like to get information as much as I can.

1. How high would it be appropriate normally? Do you think 15ft is too high to locate? (please let me know the how much coverage percent will be reduced)

2. I would like to compare the AP performance between 'antenna' and 'without antenna'. Can you recommend the tool?

I really appreciate your comments.

Go through 1852 deployment guide for antenna options

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-1/1850_DG/b_Cisco_Aironet_Series_1850_Access_Point_Deployment_Guide.html

Please check below for the Warehouse WiFi design & understand what to look for

Always use Antenna with External AP models, without antenna no way to propagate a signal.

You must take care about coaxial cable type and attenuation values.

Excesive coaxial cable run could invalidate all external antenna gains.

You can have some more information here:

https://www.electronics-notes.com/articles/antennas-propagation/rf-feeders-transmission-lines/coaxial-cable-loss-attenuation.php

https://www.digitalairwireless.com/articles/blog/signal-loss-in-rf-cable-what-is-the-numbers

And find some calculators here:

https://www.timesmicrowave.com/calculator/?Product=CL-50141&RunLength=50&Frequency=2412

https://www.qsl.net/co8tw/Coax_Calculator.htm

HTH
-Jesus
*** Please Rate Helpful Responses ***
