Unable to SSH to backup WLC controller after code upgrade from v7 to v8

Have a pair of 5500 setup as HA pair.

In v7 , you could ssh to both controllers to check everything.

In v8, you can ssh to controller but you can't ssh to the backup.

The only way you see the backup is in the monitoring section of the active controller. If something goes wrong and backup doesn't load properly, apart from logging to console, there is no longer ssh available.

Is there any reason for this?

You should be able to ssh to the standby. If you are using tacacs, that will not allow you to login. We run v8.2 and v8.5 and ssh works.

No I am not using tacacs. Using local accout at the moment. When triyng to ssh to the standby, getting network time out. But when logging to standby on my 7.x version, I can access easily.

I’m assuming you can ping the redundancy ip of the standby. That’s the ip you are using correct?

yep.

As mentioned I have 2 pairs. One is running 7 and the other 8. One is working, the v8 is not!
