Hai thanks for reply see the comment

"I would connect a WLC at distribution layer, most of SVIs defined."

In my case different distribution switch blocs ,vlans are not distributed on all,Core running EIGRP

to connect diffrent distribution blocs, vlans are not above distribution only l3 etherchannels

so in my case Flex connect model with a layer 3 port connected to coe switch and use management interface right ?please clarify

Hai

I am going to deploy two WLC 5508 one HA and for guest access.Network has two core switches 6500k.Wireless access points are on single site.

Can anybody share experience which mode preferred,Flex connect or Local mode.

All core in L3 ,with EIGRP,No trunk and no vlans on core switch .I saw many place trunk carrying vlan to WLC

but vlan not possible here.

Thanks

If you can't extend wireless users vlans to the WLC & WLC connected switch, then flexconnect is the way to go. Keep in mind in this case, your have to terminate guest traffic on local switch, where AP connected.

I would connect a WLC at distribution layer, most of SVIs defined.

HTH

Rasika

**** Pls rate all useful responses ***

Thanks for replying

I have 12 distribution blocks with 24 distribution switches and finally two core,so wireless controller attached to l3 interface in core is recommended and guest access wireless controller connected to DMZ of edge firewall right.

Vijay,

Rasika is stating that your controllers should be connected to your distribution switch with the SVI. The controller is connected to a trunk port, not a layer 3 port. So wherever you are going to define the layer 3 interfaces for the wireless SSID's (internal), that is where you should place the controller.

-Scott

Is the AP's located on the same site as the WLC's? If not, then you should look at FlexConnect for the remote sites. If you have access points located where the controllers are, then use local mode. Your wireless should be on a different vlan than your wired, so that means traffic from the ap gets tunneled back to the controller and egress from the controller. So create your vlans on that distribution switch that the controllers are connected on.

-Scott
