Wireless access based on device type. BYoD

Hello,

I have a Cisco WLC 2504 ver. 7.4.110 with LWAPs connecting from various global locations through Flexconnect.

I would like to know if we can configure access to network resources based on the devices type like Mobile, laptop and Desktop. Is it possible without ISE or any other product.

How it can be configured?

Does the same WLC model has capability to do this? or We need to upgrade to a different model.

Regards,

Anand

Hi Anand,

This can be done using local policies. However, I haven't tested it though.

IOS version - 8.0.110.0

Please find attached screen shot for your reference.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-5/NativeProfiling75.html

Cheers,
VB

Hello VB, Thank you very much

Hello VB,

Thank you very much for the solution.

One more query is that can we get a list of device types from the controller, which devices e.g. Android or Windows or Apple are connecting to the network. If we get this list then it will be easier to design policy based on the device type.

Regards,

Anand
