Cisco 5508 WLC - SFP Modules

Hello Folks,

I recently purchased a Cisco 5508 WLC and I'm looking to buy some SFP modules but can't find info on which ones would be compatible with the controller on Cisco's website . Is there any module that can support 10Gb as I have a 10Gb on the other end (switch end)? Where can I get them affordable? Thanks

You need the 1000mbps GLC-T's the WLC doesn't support 10gb.

The Flex7500 are 10GB but AP's have to be in FlexConnect mode not local.

The Gigabit Ethernet ports on the Cisco 5508 Controllers accept these SX/LC/T small form-factor plug-in (SFP) modules:

- 1000BASE-SX SFP modules, which provide a 1000-Mbps wired connection to a network through an 850nM (SX) fiber-optic link using an LC physical connector

- 1000BASE-LX SFP modules, which provide a 1000-Mbps wired connection to a network through a 1300nM (LX/LH) fiber-optic link using an LC physical connector

- 1000BASE-T SFP modules, which provide a 1000-Mbps wired connection to a network through a copper link using an RJ-45 physical connector

You want a WLC that will support 10 Gbps? You got the wrong model. There's a new one coming out in January 2013.

It is supported on WLC 7500 only.

2x10G interfaces support only optic cables with SFP Product # SFP-10G-SR.
Switch side SFP Product # X2-10GB-SR

Thank you all for your help.

I ended up buying the Cisco GLC-T 1000BASE-T SFP transceiver module/copper as the WLC doesn't support 10Gb and because I don't want to use fiber.
