topic How can i connect WLC 5500 to two different core switch (VSS) with LAG enabled? in Wireless

Dear Friends,

I have 1* 5500 series controller. I need to connect to two core switches which is configured as VSS. At present configuration in core switch is made as trunk port with native vlan assigned. On WLC , i have enabled LAG.

I tried to configure etherchannel on Core Switch , but i may not able to ping to the controller, whereas with one of the port shut in core switch , i could ping.

How can i acheive redundancy in the WLC on two core switches?

Appreciate your kind feedback .

Regards,

SID

This is the same as any other setup like a switch stack. As long as lag is configured and your trunk ports and port channel is configured right, the etherchannel should come up. Not much on the WLC side so I would look at the switch side. Make sure you defined the correct switchport and verify the etherchannel comes up.

Also when you bring up the ports, look at the switch log, that would tell you if there was some sort of mismatch.

Q. Can I configure a LAG connection that spans across multiple switches?

A. Yes. LAG with VSS, or a stacked switch (3750/2960) setup, will work as long as the fragments of an IP packet are sent to the same port. The idea is that if you go to multiple switches, the ports must belong to the same L2 “entity” with regards to load balancing decisions.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App
