What are the benefits of managing autonomous access points with the WCS? Specifically autonomous APs that are in remote locations? I see an option to create autonomous ap configuration templates but thats about it.

Indeed.

It is considered that if people still have a large autonomous APs deployment, they might still use WLSE which was made for that.

However, for large deployments, it now just makes sense to be on WLC architecture and that's where WCS come into play.

The autonomous AP management feature on WCS are made for :

-helping to migrate autonomous AP to lightweight

-manage a small number of autonomous APs in small locations or a pair of 1310 bridges for example

The only possibility is to send configuration commands, there's not much more than that with IOS APs.

What are the benefits of managing autonomous access points with the WCS?

The only "benefits" of adding autonomous APs to WCS is to inform you if the AP is up or not. That's about the most you can do (other than convert the APs from autonomous to LWAP/CAPWAP).

Am I correct in assuming that autonomous access points count toward the WCS' AP limit?
