AP losing Joining status

Hi The AP used to work fine. recently I noticed the AP losing Joining status. Under Monitor ----> Statistics ----> AP Join stat, it shows "Not joined" . But we still can ping its ip address.

In WIRELESS of the WLC, we cannot find the AP. What action do we need to do? Thank you

What is the model of the AP and what is the firmware of the controller?

WLC 5508, AP AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9

What's the environment? Is this an isolated controller, or you have a number of controllers on a larger network?
If you happen to have a "cisco-capwap-controller.<your domain> defined, it may be joining THAT WLC and not yours... If so, connect to THAT controller and change the AP settings to point to your controller; or correct the DNS entry cisco-capwap-controller.

we only have one controller. i guess we need to replace it if it is broken

Most probably your 1131 got cert expiry issue listed below

you can verify if you get console output from AP.

workaround is upgrade your WLC 7.0.252.0 & implement below command on WLC CLI

(WLC)>config ap lifetime-check {mic|ssc} enable

We have hundred of APs, Why now only this AP has connection without joining WLC by no reason? if we say certificate expire, can we say other AP would have the situation soon? Thank you

best way to find out exact reason of this registration failure is get console output from the AP. It should given an indication why it is failing to register

Yes, console access to the AP is best way, but the AP is far away from us. can we get its info from WLC?

The AP is not in Joining status. but we can see some its info under Monitor ---> Statistics ----> AP Join

It's possible, sometimes, to recover from a failed join by power cycling the AP - even just bouncing the port of the switch it's plugged into.

I agree with Reza.
Console into the AP and reboot the AP. We want to see what the AP is up to.
