I'm trying to add the AP inside cisco prime for monitoring but Im unable to search for it by it's mac. Oddly enough, the light is a solid green which means it is receiving clients. We have a 5760 WLC. I can't even find the MAC address there. Can someone help?

IOS version is:

Cisco IOS Software, C2960X Software (C2960X-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(2a)EX5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

Output:

Device ID Local Intrfce Holdtme Capability Platform Port ID
                         Gig 1/0/41 155 R T Unknown Gig 0

Hi @wrainwater

When you have WLC what you add to Prime is the WLC not AP. Once WLC had the status managed on Prime you should see the APs.

By the way, solid green means no client. Solid blue means with clients.

-If I helped you somehow, please, rate it as useful.-

Thank you for your reply. The problem is even the WLC isn't registering the MAC address. I have other 1852's going through a 3750 switch and they propagated to the controller just fine. For some reason this AP wont. And it's brand new fresh out of the box too

Make sure you don't have a Mobility express AP. People have make a lot of confusion between then lastly.

If you have console access to the AP issue the command show version and look for mobility express.

Mobility Express is the new Autonomous AP for Cisco.

Instead AP running IOS cisco started selling APs with Mobility Express. It is not a bad thing it just does not join in WLC.

Instead, it can act as a WLC.

There's two type o Mobility Express APs: master and subordinates.

Master can act as WLC and can accept subordinates APs just like any WLC.

Master APs can also be subordinates but subordinates can not be master. 1852 can be both.

You can read more Here

But, in your case you will have to convert this AP to capwap AP to join it to your WLC. The process is not complicate but require an proper image that you can download from Cisco site.

You can see how to convert Here
