Hi,

I heard that standing right below an AP cannot gain the best signal and someone showed me this http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/i/300001-400000/350001-360000/353001-354000/353602.tif/_jcr_content/renditions/353602.jpg, can I get some explain in theory for better understanding?

Hi Steve,

If you look at those radiation pattern in 3D it should be something like below. As you can see on Z plane, if you sitting just below the AP, you won't get proper coverage

Hi Rasika,

Does the picture only apply to omidirectional antenna, or all types of antenna?

Hi Steve,

Yes, above is for omni directional antenna.

Pls refer below Cisco Antenna guide to understand radiation pattern for different antenna types. There are some 3D illustration, so you should be able to understand it better.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-antennas-accessories/prod_white_paper0900aecd806a1a3e.html

Also keep below antenna deployment guide as a reference as well
