Hi Folks,

Has anyone experienced with Poe option for external AP 1532i? I am planning to have a switch such as 3650 connecting AP which are poe+ and not upoe switches. But it seems from Cisco documentation that this AP support only upoe?

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-6/b_1532_dg/b_1532_dg_chapter_01.html

"AP 1532 Power Supplies

The AP 1532 can be powered either by direct 24-48 VDC, using the AC/DC power adapter with the AIR-PWRADPT-1530=, or by Power over Ethernet. The AP 1532I requires Universal PoE (UPoE), which supplies 60 W of power. The AP 1532E operates with PoE+ or 802.3at, which supplies 25.5 W of power.
The 1532 access point

The 1532 access point supports these power sources:

DC power – 24- 57 VDC

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

The 1532 access point can be powered via the PoE input from an in-line power injector or a suitably powered switch port. Depending on the configuration and regulatory domain, the required power for full operation is UPoE. For the 1532E, 802.3at power is sufficient for all regulatory domains and full 2x2 MIMO operation on both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. Either the AIR-PWRINJ4= or the AIR-PWRINJ1500-2= power injector can be used.

For the 1532I, UPoE powered switch port or the AIR-PWRINJ1500-2= power injector is required for full operation of the 3x3 MIMO on the 2.4 GHz radio in the regulatory domains that allow for high 2.4 GHz transmit power (Regulatory domains -A, -D, -F, -K, -N, -Q, -T, -Z). If the 1532I is powered by a PoE+ (802.3at power) switch port or the AIR-PWRINJ4= power injector, then the access point will automatically disable one of the 2.4 GHz transmitters and the radio will operate in 2x3 MIMO mode.

Hope that helps.

Hi IIyas,

thanks for the input. I am a little confused With the documentation. I agree With what you just mentioned but the 1532e/I deployment guide also mention that for regulatory domain ( C,E,F,H, M,R,S) you can use PoE+ and get 3x3:3 for 2.4Ghz. If this is correct being in Norway it should mean i am ok With PoE+ to Power those AP and still get 3x3:3 on 2.4Ghz?

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-6/b_1532_dg/b_1532_dg_chapter_01.html

Model

Configuration

Regulatory Domain

Switch Power

AIR-PWRINJ1500-2=

AIR-PWRINJ4=

AC/DC Power Adapter AIR-PWRADPT-1530=

1532I

3x3:3 (2.4 GHz)
2x3:2 (5 GHz)

A, D, K, N, Q, T, Z

UPoE

√

√

one Tx disabled*
2x3:2 (2.4 GHz)

2x3:2 (5 GHz)

A, D, K, N, Q, T, Z

802.3at PoE+

N/A

√

N/A

3x3:3 (2.4 GHz)
2x3:2 (5 GHz)

C, E, F, H, M, R, S

802.3at PoE+

√

√

√

Cheers

/Karim
