Airnet 1130AG with no wireless controller?

Hi All,

We have recently moved into an office that has these wireless routers scattered around all running back to the comms room.

Is there any way of connecting these to our switch without a wireless controller? all we want to do is set them up with a wireless key and allow company access is this something that can be done easily?

Yes. You can configure each AP as autonomous.

As long as your AP booting up in autonomous IOS, then it should be fine.

Can you post the complete output to the command "sh version" please?

Sorry i havnt really had a lot of experience with these routers before, how would i find the output that you require?

Also i have no documents for these and would not know how to boot these up in autonomous IOS and access the configuration.

Please exuse my lack of knowledge!

You need a console cable then you need to configure the AP if its autonomous.

Shaun,

You can extract "c1130-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA2.tar " in to the flash of your AP , extracting commands you can see in Cisco forum and change default boot to new loaded autonomous IOS and , using console you can change the BVI interface IP and gateway. Now you will be able to access GUI of the Autonomous access point through network and you can configure the SSID and security, try and let us know

Hello Shaun,

As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-

Yes. You can configure each AP as autonomous.

Configure the bridge group in the wireless interface with the bridge group dot11radio interface command.

This is an example.

AP# configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

AP(config)# interface Dot11Radio0.1

Ap(config-subif)# encapsulation dot1q 1 native

Ap(config-subif)# bridge group 1

ap(config-subif)# exit

2.Configure the bridge group with the same bridge group number ("1" in this example) in the Fast Ethernet interface so that VLAN 1 traffic is passed across the wireless interface to this wired side and vice versa.

Ap(config)# interface fastEthernet0.1

Ap(config-subif)# encapsulation dot1q 1 native

Ap(config-subif)# bridge group 1

Ap(config-subif)# exit

Hi Guys, after getting a console cable i am still unable to get it open in telnet or PuTTy. somone has said that this router needs a wireless controller to be able to configure it, its just not showing up no matter how i try and contact it!

We have resorted to a Netgear Modem router which is acting as an access point!

Console cable will allow you to look and configure an AP, it will not allow you to telnet into the Ap.

and for the console you need to be 9600/none/8/1 with flow control set to off
