Hey Beacon,

Thanks for your reply....really appreciate that

Then why would people recommend to go for dynamic DNS, when it can't resolve your issue

Anyways, can you please suggest me something on VPN as mentioned in my first discussion.

Thanks

wireless router issue

Dear Experts,

I have a TP-Link 3G/4G wireless N router and I need to form a VPN server on this router in such a way that all my remote android and IOS mobile users should be able to connect to the this wireless router
using the inbuild VPN options available in android and IOS.

But the thing is my router only supports the VPN traffic pass through, it does not have enough options to confgure the IPsec, L2TP and PPTP VPNs.

Can anyone please let me know how do I need to work out for this..

I configured a Ubuntu server as a PPTP server and It works, but when I configured the server as L2TP /IPsec with PSK it does not work.

I still have to configure L2TP/IPsec with RSA, IPsec Xauth PSK, IPsec Xauth RSA and IPsec Xauth hybrid RSA

I read it somewhere that its not possible to put a server behind the 3G connection, as this 3G service provider does not do port forwarding and my IP address also keeps changing and tried to confgure the
dynamic DNS and it doesn't work.

My router status page shows different public IP and dynamic DNS picks different IP address. Seems everything messy here.

Can Anyone please help me out.

Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciable

Thanks

Dear Mohammed,

It is hard to come about with the solution when Router's Public IP is constantly changing even though Dynamic DNS deos not work well in a situation like this.

The only best solution is that spend some money and get a static IP for router.

Hope this would help.

Regards,

Hi Mohammed,

You're welcome.

Dynamic DNS gives the URL to browse to, so its easily be mapped at the back end.

But in case of any VPN there is no way of changing the IP address dynamically.

Unfortunately, cannot think of any other solution.

Regards,

you mean to say that it doesn't matter what kind of VPN I'm trying to configure...for sure I need to have the static public IP which shouldn't be changing very often.
