Session Timeout for Wireless Guest

I have a Cisco WLC 5508, I configured a Wireless Guest with Web Auth, and I want to configure the session timeout to this network to 8 hours.

On the configuration of my WLAN, in Advanced, I enabled the Enable Session Timeout option with the value 28800.

Despite this, I have many users that continue reporting that after a few minutes of inactivity, they need to authenticate again. This occurs mainly with mobile equipment (smartphones). I need to configure something else?

Thanks

Hi Ricardo,

Hi Ricardo,

You have session timeout which you have already configured and then you have idle timeout as well.

It seems your clients are getting deauthenticated due to the default idle timeout which is 5 minutes, Specially you'd notice this more with mobile devices as they thend not send much data when on idle

If you have a high moving environment, bumping this to a large number might cause memory issues, mine is set to 30mins but haven't noticed any issues so far

Cheers

Prabath
