About Indoor Wireless connectivity in our campus.

Hello,

Presently I am desiging Indoor Wireless Connecitivity in Our Campus. So I suggested Indoor Access Point 1602 and 5508 Wireless LAN Controller . We required atleast 15 Indoor Access points (May be increased) . We also required 8 port POE Switch. Pl help me that This Indoor Access point will give good connectivity or any other Indoor Access point. Also which POE switch can be used (Model Number).

HI Raju,

You can use 1602 or 2602 AP its depends on your requirement.

Kepp in mind: The rule of thumb is 25 clients per ap no matter what type of ap. This can change depending on the applications that will be using the wireless. If its jsut web and email, then maybe 30-40, but video might be 4-8.

I will recommand to use power injector instead of PoE switch:

Note:Note: When deployed using PoE, the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount dependent on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 15.4W.

If you want a good 8-port PoE switch then your options are:

1. WS-C2960CG-8PS; OR

2. WS-C3560CG-8PS
