This is very easy. Setup the site to use 'NULL:clients connect to router' which essentially uses SNMP to read the ARP table on the router. This would be the default gateway of the client, not the AP or BBSM.

Your other option is to have the BBSM site poll the Cisco AP directly.

Both work very well and are well documented in the BBSM 5.3 docs...

L3 BBSM implementation over Wireless

Hi, We are trying to implement a BBSM 5.3 into a L3 environment for Guest access for our Wireless users. We have a WLSM module in the core and 1131AG AP's distributed across 5 remote sites.

The switch discovery wizard on the BBSM seems to fail since I guess this is for L2 implementations only. If I add the router for the local subnet then configure the AP on the BBSM to use this router instead of 127.0.0.1 then the BBSM simply tries to SNMP query its first hop device on the internal network (which happens to be a firewall in this case).

Would love to hear from anyone that has got BBSM working at L3 for a Wireless environment.

Cheers,

Tim.
