i am trying to network my centrino notebook thro a smc wireless router.there are 4 pcs connected by cat5 to the 4 lan ports of the smc router.initially at the notebook i added the lan, firewire and wireless interfaces to the bridge, assigned a static ip address to the bridge and was able to see all computers in the lan after adding the notebook to the workgroup.

subsequently this stopped working.anytime i added the wireless interface to the bridge it showed up as not connected.so i removed the wireless interface from the bridge .it then picked up ip info from dhcp and showed up as connected.here comes the weird part.after this i was able to see and access one of the pcs on the wired lan.BUT I COULD NOT PING THE ROUTER.i could print from the notebook to a network printer connected to one of the pcs on wired lan.

smc support was not of much help.removed the firewall ,put 11b only,11 mbps instead of auto ,disabled g nitro, used ch 11.same result.can access network resource(1 out of 4 Pcs) but cannot ping router.

seems i am conceptually missing something.

any suggestions?

shaibal

XP Briging is sending BPDUs upstream to the router and probably messing you up. Don't use XP Bridging.
