That model supports Mobility Express which is a built-in controller. This model along with the 2802 and 3802, do not support autonomous mode.

Here is a ME guide:

Hi Team,

I would like to ask you if the Access Point model AIR-AP1832I-A-K9 could be configured as standalone, I mean, not using a wireless controller.

Thank you.

Hi

looks like yes is the answer , when I check the download section there is a lightweight version available for download which would enable it to be standalone , but you will need to convert it first the AP

https://software.cisco.com/download/type.html?mdfid=286288035&flowid=76322 4

how to convert

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_01101110.pdf
