Hi Guys

I'm new with wireless and I'm struggling to get the AP to get an IP address. From the switch the port connecting to the AP has the native vlan configured as 161. Do I need to change the native vlan on the AP?
If so how do I change the native vlan.

Regards'

Isaac

So you know that the model so you have is a lightweight access point that requires a controller? What you need to do is console into the access point and look at the output after you have recycled the AP. Also, if you connect a laptop to that port, does the laptop get an ip from vlan 161?

-Scott

Yes as of best practice

Yes as of best practice NAtive vlan should be same on both ends. Just make the VLAN same throughout and test. Its better to do your testing on VID=1 then change to whatever native you want, by doing this you are sure that it works on default settings. Further more Make sure Your Control and data ports are open on End device and also any device between WLC and LAP if your setup is controller based.

Also make sure AP-manager interface is configure on the WLC and DHCP is configure with scope properly define.

Hope this will be helpful
