Hi. I am attemting to configure a Cisco Aironet 1130AG series access point (AIR-AP1131AG-E-K9) and after I reset the AP, I cannot access the web interface. When I enter the IP address in Internet Explorer I receive the following page after entering the default password:

When I click on Web Consile, I receive the following page:

This in in Dutch because the laptop I am using to configure the AP has a Dutch Operating System. However, it is the standard IE page that says that the requested web page cannot be found.

I have configured several of these AP's and this is the first time I have hot been able to access the web console.

Here is the Tech Support information:

Can you please advise me as to how I can access the Web Console for this access point?

You need to console into the ap and then makes sure there is a command in the configuration for: ip http server

On the console issue a:

show run-config

Hi Scott,

I need a nine-pin, female DB-9 to RJ-45 serial cable which I do not have...

I also cannot download the required software because I do not have a service contract!!

Do you have any other suggestions as to how I can communicate with this access point?

Well your really out of luck here. Console access is the best way to actually configure the AP or at least make some changes. Not having a service contract so you can download the image is another set back as that would be your next step. I would just try to reset the AP back to factory and see if it works:

Hi Scott,

I put this project on the side for several months and now I have made a bit more progress. I was able to upgrade the firmware to c1130-k9w8-tar.124-25e.JAO5.tar and that went perfectly.

However, I have absolutely no web console now. The ip http server is set to no, and I do not have an available command to turn it on. I have tried downgrading the firmware, but that times out. Please see the attached listing from the hyperterminal session.

The commands I have available to me are as follows:

I just spent a couple of days working to get it this far, so any advice you can give me would be appreciated. I want to be able to access the AP via the web interface using the specific ip address which was assigned by the DHCP server.

I finally got this sorted out

I finally got this sorted out. I had the IP address on my laptop set to 10.0.0.1, and when I tried to load new firmware it constantly timed out regardless of what I did. When I changed the IP address to 10.0.0.2, it worked perfectly.

Here is the procedure to load new firmware:

Step 1 The PC you intend to use must be configured with a static IP address in the range of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30.

Step 2 Place a copy of the access point image file (such as c1130-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA.tar) into the TFTP server folder on your PC. For additional information, refer to the"Obtaining the Access Point Image File" and "Obtaining the TFTP Server Software" sections.

Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1130-k9w7-tar.default.

Step 4 Activate the TFTP server.

Step 5 If using in-line power, use a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable to connect your PC to the To Network Ethernet connector on the power injector.

Step 6 Open the access point cover (refer to the "Opening the Access Point Cover" section).

Step 7 Disconnect power (the power jack for external power or the Ethernet cable for in-line power) from the access point.

Step 8 Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.

Step 9 Hold the MODE button until the Radio LED turns a red color (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), and release the MODE button.

Step 10 After the access point reboots, you must reconfigure the access point by using the Web interface, the Telnet interface, or Cisco IOS commands.

The reason why you can't get into the web interface is because someone has loaded the IOS by copying the BIN file into the AP.

When you copy only the BIN file, the web interface materials are MISSING.

If the web interface sub-directory is present then the BIN file is stored in the root directory and doesn't know WHERE the HTML sub-directory is located.
