Hello everyone,

First at all, i apologize for my english, i'm trying my best here 😉

I'm posting here because i dont know much in WIFI Networking, an material selection.

I need to change all access point in a warehouse. I have many rooms, but i dont knwo what type of wall there is.

i was thinking about using aironet 1600i or 1600e, and one wifi controller, but i have some questions first.

Here we go :

- Is there a way to know or to calulate the rage of an access point ? some rooms are large (like 1000m²+) so i dont know if i have to use one or two access point.

- Does the use of an antena (for the 1600e) improve the range of the AP, or just pemit a better reception ?

- If the wall between two rooms is small, must i use the two acces points, or is one enough ?

- And last question, do u know where can i find a kind of "best pratice" book or website for WIFI networks

Thanks for your awnsers 🙂

HiTo determine how many APs

Hi

To determine how many APs required at your design, you have to do a site survey taking into your requirements into consideration, which is the most important thing. If you are not familiar, I would suggest approach someone who is doing this professionally & get their support on this design/implementation work. Here are some documents related to wifi site survey.

1. http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/5500-series-wireless-controllers/116057-site-survey-guidelines-wlan-00.html

2. http://www.revolutionwifi.net/2013/08/wi-fi-site-surveying-101.html

3. http://www.wirelesstrainingsolutions.com/videos/802-11n-design-site-survey-best-practices

4. http://www.nle.com/literature/Airmagnet_BestPractices-for_wireless_site_design.pdf

5. http://www.ekahau.com/wifidesign/blog/category/wi-fi-site-surveys/

HTH

Rasika

**** Pls rate all useful responses ****
