We are getting the following alerts in our WCS for APs:

"AP 'AP1' disassociated from Controller '172.30.8.24'."

followed by:

"AP 'AP1', interface ''802.11b/g' is down on Controller '172.30.8.24'.The Access Point has lost connection with the controller."

Our WCS software version is at 4.0.97.0.

We have 3 WLC and they are at software version 4.0.179.8.

And help figuring out these alerts would be appreciated.

I believe this may be somewhat related to bug CSCsm13591. I don't believe that your software version is associated with this bug, but it may be.

This bug causes that error to occur during RLDP detection.

The actual AP is not truly down and clients will see no degraded service.

Are you seeing clients having issues or are you just seeing the alarms and everything else is fine?

I was getting so many of these false messages that I turned off the alarms. I was getting hundreds/night.
