Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.1 - AP's stay greyed out in Site Map, thus no Heatmaps are created

Hopefully someone can help me out here. I've got our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.1 server running with (for now) an evaluation license.

I got it synced up with a Cisco 5520 WLC, the Prime server recognises the configuration through SSH and SNMP, and I can see everything the WLC shows in Prime.

Yesterday I created a site map for the first floor in our building and I added the AP's from that floor to the map, positioned them and waited for the Heatmap to be generated, the problem however, there are no heatmaps being created. The AP's have a grey icon with a question mark in them. After a small Google, I've found out that that icon indicated AP's that could not be reached.

And this is really weird, since I can hover my mouse over any of these "unreachable" AP's and literally see all information about the AP, such as how many connected clients it has, what traffic peaks there, if it is up or down, everything!

It is on version 3.1.0.0.132. Also forgot to mention that it is a virtual appliance, and I've already reloaded the NCS (ncs stop, ncs start)

Scott thanks a lot in a sence that the AP's are now actually recognised as being up, so that part works now.

The only thing is that it still doesn't generate heatmaps. It looks like the attached screenshot.

Any further ideas?

It sometimes takes a while

It sometimes takes a while depending on the hardware you are running PI on. If you click on the access point you can adjust it by radio band. Try switching 2.4 off and checking 5ghz just to see. You can't choose both or else the heat map will not generate.

Also check what options you have under heatmaps on the left side under access points.

What do you have selected for the AP's on the left side? To me it seems like a bug to be honest. We don't run any x802's in our environment so can't really say. I however don't even use the heat map as that is always unchecked in my profile when I access PI. It's a predictive and really doesn't tell the real RF truth:)

I have a similar problem - My WLC is a 5760 running 3.6.3. I upgraded PI from 3.0 with working heatmaps and correctly-reported registered APs to 3.1.4 and now all my APs are grayed out and I have critical alarms on all my maps. I installed 3.1.5 last night and it didn't help. I re-synced the WLC to Prime but no dice there either.

I seem to have run into the same problem.

PI on 3.1.5 and 5760 WLC on 3.7.00E

Other none 5760 WLCs with APs are working fine in the same PI.

Looks like opening a TAC case would be the best idea. There is a new PI 3.1.6, but if you like upgrading then possible worth a try, doubt that it is fixed.

I think the problem fixed itself after waiting a bit after the 3.1.5 update. I'm running 3.1.6 now and it's working OK.

Ill look somewhere else for the problem (or create a tac case).

I have the same problem. But unfortunately i cannot upgrade to new version as our new Cisco ISE 2.3 only supports 3.1 right now.

Can you let me know any other possibility to solve this issue.
