Hi, I want to setup a webpage for my guest network (no authentication) users. When the client connects to the open guest network and upon opening a browser they would be directed to a survey that I would like them to take, if they don't want to take it they can begin browsing to other sites without issue. How do I do this on a my 5508 WLC?

Well you would have to use an external web server and then point the authentication to the web portal url. You would have to setup the webauth as passthrough and have an accept or an okay button for them to proceed without having to login.

Thanks,

Scott

Help out other by using the rating system and marking answered questions as "Answered"

In order to use the external webauth you need to choose authentication or passthrough, so this info has to be sent back to the WLC in order to allow the traffic. So if users want to do the survey or not, just have a button to proceed to the internet or some statement like that...

Thanks,

Scott

Help out other by using the rating system and marking answered questions as "Answered"

Well the url has to be an internal webauth that you host. You would need to do a pre-auth ACL to allow the traffic to the URL.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008076f974.shtml

Thanks,

Scott

Help out other by using the rating system and marking answered questions as "Answered"

I might be over complicating this. But all I want to do is have a passthrough (no authentication required) and when the user hits Accept on the default "Welcome to the Cisco wireless network" page the user is redirected to our Survey Monkey survey.

I can get to the default "Welcome to the Cisco ...." page but if I select Over-ride Global Config and then External redirect and put in the surveymonkey URL then the client gets stuck in a loop where it is hitting the survey page and redirecting to itself. Or atleast that's what it looks like is happening. I turn off the Over-ride Global Config and the default page is displayed again.

I created a Pre-auth ACL with the IP for survey monkey and added that to my passthrough. Now the user is directed to survey monkey however it appears I have no internet access. The client gets an IP but is unable to ping google or anything. This seems harder than it should be.

yes, it is much easier than what you are doing.

If all you need is for the client to be redirected after they accept your AUP, you only need to go to :

Security > WebAuth > Web Login Page

fill in the box for Redirect URL after Login.

then go back to your WLAN, and simply set it for Passthrough.

HTH,
Steve

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please remember to rate useful posts, and mark questions as answered

You mean in the WLAN config? If so, that didn't work either.

To recap where I am at now I have my WLAN setup with just passthrough.

Then under security Web auth > web login page I have it set as

Unfortunatlly, I still cannot leave the External Webauth URL empty

With the above setup, the client after connecting to the WLAN has the browser auto launch and appears to direct to the redirect site, however the page just refreshes and does not load. Long URL with domain.com/blah blah blah/1.1.1.1 virtual interface of the WLC.

Message was edited by: Andrew Schulz

I got working now. To get it to work I needed to change the Security Web Auth type to internal then enter a Redirect URL after login. I'm running 7.3.112 if that matters.

Thanks for the help everyone. I really appriceate it.
