Aeronet 340 bridge can not see gateway

I have a aeronet 340 bridge which i setup in Access point mode. I configured my laptop which has a wireless nic card to see the access point and i can ping every thing on my network besides my gateway. I entered the gateway address in the aeronet 340. Any suggestions

Check that all of the devices have the subnet mask correctly configured and are in the same subnet

if this is then a sniffer or debug on the router is the best way forward the fact that you can get to all other devices on the wired side of your network shows that the BR340 is working correctly it will more likely be a problem between your bridge and the router or a addressing problem

All the devices have the subnet mask entered correctly. Im wondering if this is the issue. My LAN is on a 16 bit subnet and the ip configured for the Gateway is a 8 bit subnet. But the LAN has no problem with it. Im wondering if i need to setup some static routes. Or is the problem that can the BR340 be setup as an access point even though it has 1 antenna?

If you have different subnet masks then that will be part of your problem, they will use different broadcast addresses.

Static routes are not the solution

All aironet devices are a layer 2 device

VLSM is of no concern to the AP

The IP address on them is only for management and has no bearing on traffic passing through it

infact this can be used as a security design

Have the AP on one subnet all clients on another subnet the clients subnet is configured on the routers ethernet interface with the AP's sub net on the same interface as a secondary then a simple ACL on the router to only allow access to that subnet from devices you trust to manage it.

I know that if i change the firebox's ip address to a 16 bit one then the problem should be solved. but im confused on why the computers can ping the firebox even though they are on different masks and computers connected to the AP can't. When i had both 340 bridges setup in bridge mode the computers on the other side of the bridge could ping the firebox. Could it be that since the bridge has only 1 antenna even though i put it in Access point mode it wont work properly.

The number of antenna's has NO bearing on the traffic the dual antenna are for combating the effect of mutli path loss !!

I recommend you put a sniffer on the ethernet side of the bridge and see that it is passing the traffic and the bridge is not the cuase for the problem

Do you have any filters configured ?? Have you tried to default the config then step it up as an AP again ?
