FRA Segmentation?

Hi All,

is there a possibility to activate FRA, depending on AP Group Membership? In some Cases FRA works against us, so the possibility to turn it on or off depending on AP Group or physical Location would be nice.

TiA and BR, Michael

I don't think so. FRA is global.
One can over-ride this assigning the role of the micro radio manually.

Currently FRA is an whole WLC configuration.

The reference guide https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-3/b_RRM_White_Paper/b_RRM_White_Paper_chapter_01000.html mentions AP groups but more to say if using AP Groups for SSID grouping, then there is potential that an SSID might disappear.

What you could do is set all APs to manual for FRA and then turn it to auto on the ones you want. Keep in mind that FRA does not revert all APs back to 2.4 and 5GHz client serving if you disable it after it was on.

OK, thank you. That could be a way. At first disable FRA, revert all AP to "normal" working with both 2,4 and 5GHz. Then enable FRA, enable all AP to manual and selected APs to Auto. Agree?

BR, Michael
