I have been advised by Cisco Multicast-Unicast is not support on the 8510 due to the number for access points it supports. Replaying multicast to 6000 aps would not be good for the controller or network.

Multicast-Unicast mode on 8510 controller

Hi,

I am testing Vocera on a new POC for our customer. Vocera is functioning well apart from the broadcast function which uses multicast to send the message to a group of users. From the documentation i have read for a non multicast network Multicast/unicast function should work, although its not the recommended approach. The customer would not be willing to roll out multicast across the network as its a sizeable network.

The customer has an existing Juniper wireless network where the Vocera broadcast still works. I have also tested multicast using iperf and it also works on Juniper wireless but not on Cisco. When testing the Multicast server and client are on the same SSID and vlan and the same in the Vocera badges

Has anyone got multicast/unicast mode working? Is there anything else i need to setup on the controller?
