Hello,

I am trying to connect a Windows Media Server and a TV in the same vlan. The Media Server is connected to a switch and the TV is in WiFi connected to a Cisco 3702 managed by a 5760 controller. I enable the multicast and broadcast commands in the controller but it still does not work.

wireless broadcast

When I tested in a switch the TV and the Media Server works, but not when one of them are in the WiFi.

Please provide more information. What do you mean by "it still does not work"? Please elaborate further.

I understand that when the TV is on the wired network, it works but when the TV is connected using wireless what happens? Can the wired network ping the TV when it's in wireless?

Even start with the basic, can the TV authenticate to the wireless?

Yeah you are right, sorry about that.

1.- The TV is a LG SmartTV with Wired and Wireless Access

2.- The Wireless Network is based on Cisco Controller 5760 version 3.07.0E and AP 3702 external and internal version 10.3.100

4.- A PC configured with Windows Media Server to share videos and pictures.

Case 1.

The TV connected to the switch in wired mode, and the PC as well in the wired mode to the switch in the same vlan. IP ping works.

In this case I can see the PC in the TV and I can see the videos and pictures shared the PC.

Case 2

The TV connected to the wireless network and the PC to the wired network in a switch. Both also are in the same vlan.IP pings works.

Here I can see the PC on the TV, but I can not see the shared folders to watch the videos and pictures.

Actions:

So I pointed to the Wireless Network. I thought that if both are in the same vlan, it should not be a problem, but I was reading that I need to activate on the controller:

wireless multicast and wireless broadcast command. So I did it. Also I restarted the controller, but no results yet.

So any suggests what else to do, may be I am understanding wrong about the multicast and broadcast? so I did not complete the controller configuration?

Do you know this application require multicast to work ? When you test wired connectivity, did you connect those two devices to a switch where 5760 is connected ?

What is the below output looks like on your 5760

The software we are using is Windows Media Player. I read that it use multicast streaming.

The test was in a different switch where the controller is connected, but the other switch where the test was done, is connected through trunk ports.

This is the command you asked me:
