AP1602I autonomous to lighweight conversion problem

Hi guys,

I'm doing migration from autonomous to LWAPP for some 1602i APs. I followed the usual procedure with the recovery image but after downloading and rebooting the AP keeps its ip/gw settings and is neither using the DHCP option 43 nor the DNS entry (it has no DNS settings), also tried with the erase of startup config after and before the download but the ip/gw is always there.

I was able to connect to the AP with the rcv image running with the default Cisco user, i set the controller IP both with :

capwap ap controller ip address ip_address

and :

capwap ap primary-base controller_name controller_ip_address

After that the AP joins the controller, downloads the software, reboots but never joins the controller again, it seems that it looses the controller setting and of course with static ip address and no dns settings it can't retrieve the controller IP.

Ios in autonomous mode was 15.2(2)JB2, WLC is 8.0.100.0

Any idea ?

Must the AP have a different software level for the rcv image to clean up the static ip ?

Or is there a way to save the controller IP when the ap reboots with the rcv image ?

Tomorrow I'm going to call the on site people to do the "factory default" procedure, I think it'll fix the problem but anyway I've other APs to migrate and an answer is appreciated.

After that the AP joins the controller, downloads the software, reboots but never joins the controller again,

Ok, the AP joins the controller to download the software. This means something. Can you post the output to the following commands:

1. AP: sh version;

I've got a strange feeling this is due to your AP having the wrong Regulatory Domain.
