Hi everyone,

I am having an issue with 7921 handsets dropping from the wireless LAN. I am seeing the following log entries on the WLC:

Client Excluded: MACAddress:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Base Radio MAC :00:00:00:00:00:00 Slot: 0 User Name: xxxxxx Ip Address: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX Reason:802.11 Association failed repeatedly. ReasonCode: 2

The wireless LAn has been in for over 4 years and has been running fine.

If there are any particular logs that anybody thinks will help to resolve this i will be happy to post them.

WLC = 4402

Software Version = 7.0.235.0

AP's = AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9

It's a generic error which is: Previous authentication no longer valid

Is it just with a specific phone? Might be a phone going bad, maybe reset the phone and configure it again.

It seems to be a number of the 7921 phones. at least 3 that i can see so far.

Hi Matt,

What type of security SSID is using?

Were there any recent changes before the problem appears?

Could you try association with open SSID and see if that shows same problem?

It is also advisable to check the RF status where those phones are being used.

Hi Amjad,

Ok here we go :

SSID Sec Type WPA2 AES

Ath Man 802.1X+CCKM

Auth server Cisco ACS

There have not been any changes for 6 months

I have also rebooted the controller and all associated access poonts

Hope that this info is what you need to help me

Ok so this appears to have been caused by the WLC that the access points were associated to. After changing all of the access points to our backup WLC the problem has completly disappeared and the users have advised that they are no longer having issues with their phones.

Thinking my next step should be to re install the firmware and see if this resolves the issue ?

Ok after reloading the firmware on the WLC and testing we still have the same Issue. Is there anyone else out there that has this issue ? and have you managed to resolve it ?

Your backup WLC has same software version and same hardware model?
