Cisco 5508 - remote access query

Hi all,

I am working on a pair of Cisco 5508's. I need to make an IP address change to the management interface of the device, remotely. When I make the change I will lose access to the appliance.

We currently trunk a number of vlans from the core switch to the controllers. I was wondering if I created an interface, associated it with a vlan that was trunked to the device, and added an ip address that was routable, that I would be able to administer the device? Or can you only administer the device from the managment interface?

I don't have remote access to the console port.

These are production devices that I need to raise a change request for hence me not trying this before posting the query.

You can only manage it by the management ip by default. You can enable management via dynamic interface using this command.

config network mgmt-via-dynamic-interface

I have done this numerous times. I have just made sure the trunk port allowed the new vlan and I made a change to the manager ip of the WLC and hit apply. Then I open a new browser to the new ip. You can donut either way.
