Hi,

The parent command is used to determine the only parent(s) to which the AP can associate. It works for repeater but also for root/non-root bridges. The non-root will then refuse to associate to any other parent than the one it is configured for.

Your issue is not related to that command to my opinion.

Nicolas

I am running the 1242

and bridging between them.....multiple bridges..spanning tree is working great...

someone had put parent commands on the non-root bridges.....my understand

ing is that this is for Repeater functionality,,I cannot find anywhere in documentation that this

is for root/non-root bridging....what happens is that once in awhile the non-root bridges lose contact with their swith

on their ethernet side...this sounds like a repeater.....are the parent commansd for repeater functionality
