topic AP1232AG Link Role Flexibility in Wireless

I tried to setup a 802.11a wireless backhaul using several dual radio AP1232AG with IOS 12.3.8JA and LRF feature. The backhaul consists of a root bridge followed by a daisy-chain of two non-root bridges. Usually non-root bridges only associate to root bridges. I read in a Cisco paper that a configuration is possible in which a non-root bridge can also associate to another non-root if one non-root has a wireless link to a root bridge. Is this possible and has there anything to be configured which is different from the usual non-root to root configuration? In addition I'd like to configure that a non-root only associates to one or more predefined non-roots. I tried this using the "parent 1 [MAC]" command on Dot11Radio1 interface but it didn't work.

I've attached the lab configurations of the root and the two non-root bridges.
