Client roaming decision is purely made by the client. See below specific to iOS device

https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT203068

In your case where client does not trigger roaming, it could be due to different reasons. primarily conditions does not meet to trigger roaming decision. Could be your client hear both AP strongly and no reason for it to roam to next AP even you are next to 2nd AP.

I would check power levels (show advanced 802.11a summary for WLC CLI) & see if clients RSSI to see if that falls on those roaming conditions of apple client

HTH

Dear Folks,

I have been facing an wireless Roaming Issue in our cisco Mobility express wireless controller. We used to Connect SSID (ISAP1) with Ipad's and will roam inside & Outside the Office. However, it seems to be the IPAD device is not getting connected automatically even it's very near to the access point.

When I turnoff and turn on the wireless settings, then it's getting connected. And It happens always.

As per the troubleshoot, I have upgraded the controller image. also enable the 2.5 & 5 Ghz band for this specific SSID. But the still the issue is same.

how can i sort out this issue. Can anyone advice
