If someone elects not to purchase/renew the ECMU maintenance on their AP licensing currently tied to a WLC (5520 in this case), what exactly can happen? Will Cisco refuse support it a TAC case is opened on the WLC?

No idea about this specific license, but normally, if the hardware is not covered under a valid contract, you can't open a TAC for that hardware.

Thanks for the reply. In this case the 5520 WLC would still be under current maintenance. The customer wants to drop the licensing specific maintenance.

Go HERE and turn to page 1.

The old "terminology" was "SWSS" and now it has been "rebranded" as CON-ECMU (to confused people).

This is the most "basic" (cheapest) license. Without this, there is nothing one can really do: No TAC support, no software updates & no support documents (such as configuration guides, etc.).
