One Computer Connects to Two AP Simultaneously

Hi there,

One of my coworkers tried to setup an AP(3802) in one room. Another AP was already setup in a room next to it. When he tested it, I could see his computer connected to two APs simultaneously on WLC. I'm new to cisco wireless. I'm wondering if it's correct or error? I'm just confused why one device connects to two aps at same time? Thank you.

How did you conclude client connected to two AP same time ?

Ok, good to know. When we searched on WLC which ap the computer connected to, two APs popped out same time. That's why I thought one computer connected to two APs simultaneously. BTW, what will happen if two adjacent aps on the same channel?

Did you click the the client mac address to see details of those two sessions ?

If you have SSH access to your WLC, you could check using " show client detail <client_mac_addr>" where client is connected in real time.
