    <description>Like Leo mentioned you will need a L3 device. Is your private wireless on the same subnet as the wired?  If not, then you already have L3 and you will just need to add the new subnet.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I've worked with the AiroNet 1830's and 50's for a little while now, but they've all been on a single LAN,&amp;nbsp; I would like to use the same AP's to offer both public and private access.&amp;nbsp; I assume I'd need a layer 3 switch to do this?&amp;nbsp; If so, how complicated is the configuration and would I need any other equipment?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>You will need a Layer 3 appliance (router or a layer 3 switch) to start. &lt;BR /&gt;Complexity will depend on the design and the requirement.</description>

      <description>Thanks! I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. If we're only doing public and private (no special groups), can I get away with creating two VLAN's and route two different IP schemes? Again, we are trying to use all of our 1832i's that are currently a private WIFI and setup public access using the same. Are you saying that this would work or are we going to need anything else?&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>The private Wi-Fi is on the local subnet. That’s why I figured I would need to do something Vlanning. I just haven’t tried this before. It’s for a nonprofit and a e were able to get the Cisco AP’s pretty cheap, but the switch might get expensive. I know this is a Cisco forum, but could anybody me recommend a low cost product that can also do POE? We would probably need about 6 ports.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Don’t really know what’s out there.  You can try eBay and or I know some vendors like Cisco has provided olde equipment to non-profits. Don’t know what the process is however. &lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thank you all!&amp;nbsp; I've found a few devices out there, but their all weird brand names.&amp;nbsp; Tech Soup is where we were getting most of the products, but the Cisco switches are pricy compared to some third party devices.&amp;nbsp; I guess I'm just looking for confirmation that the layer 3 switch is enough to make this scenario work.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Check some of the Ubiquiti routers, but make sure that they would have POE+ or alternatively get a switch that supports POE+ and a cheap ER-X router. It has combined throughput of ~1 Gbps, be aware of that. That's what I have at home atm.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
