Yes and no.

Technically, the answer is no (reason below).

However, it can be done ... but with consequences.

Because of the conflicting Regulatory Domain, the controller will only enable radios where the rules are both the same. If there are rules which are conflicting then the radio(s) or channel(s) will be disabled.

It is for this reason why we dissuade people from putting APs with different Regulatory Domain into a single controller.

Hi Everyone,

I need a little bit of verification based on facts;

I am aware that Cisco APs designated for my region (Nigeria) are the AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 model APs. I want to find out if the model AIR-CAP3702I-A-K9 can be used here also.

Cisco does not specify that it can be used, but in a case where it is being used, what are the limitations to be expected?

HI,

It should not be used.

The reason behind this is because the wifi Regulatory Domain for Nigeria/Europe(-E) and US (-A)are totally different. In order to comply, Cisco's WLC will only allow COMMON factors to be enabled.

HI,

Dont forget: Running wrong country code is illegal as well.

Best case is, return the AP (with the wrong Regulatory Domain) to the vendor and ask them to exchange for the one with the correct Regulatory Domain.

or

Run the AP in autonomous mode.
