screen broadcast

Hi,

I have an client server application which basically using for screen broadcast and controll the clients from the server.
Enabling media stream is a good idea ?
All the clients and servers are connected wirless.

The Issue is i can hardly braodcast 2 clients ,That too is sluggish.

wlc 5760 ,ap 3702

If I want to broadcast to around 50 users how many ap's are required .

Lets assume every user has two device and 50 device are currently joined to the multicast group

I haven't used the 5760 in production, but you probably need to look at the RF and RF health. All devices dual band and 802.11ac, how much bandwidth does the application require, how does the channel utilization look like? You can also try to set 54mbps as a mandatory rate along with what you have already since multicast is sent at a higher rate. I have seen organizations try to use multicast to broadcast company meetings like town hall events, but the bandwidth for the video stream was just too much. I would say, optimize the wireless and play around with how many clients work fine from a end users perspective, then you can determine how many clients per AP.

Hi scott One more issue is like 5 ghz devices sometimes connects to 2.4 Ghz . Why the client trying to connect 2.4 Ghz Thanks

There is no way you can enforce all dual band clients connect only on 5GHz over 2.4GHz (since this decision made by clients & WLC could have little influence by configuring bandselect)

As long as you have 5GHz capable clients best to restrict SSID advertise on 5GHz (but this should affect 2.4GHz only clients, you may need to have a dedicated SSID for those clients)

Its like client roaming ,connecting AP A (5Ghz) ,AP B(5Ghz) ,AP C (2.4Ghz) ..........

The reason could be the client listen 2.4 signal better than 5 Ghz also.

Client will take the decision on what AP it connects to (based on their own judgement of the environment based on parameters like RSSI/Retransmission/etc.

Since different devices behave different way on this, there is no consistency you can achieve.

Atleast how can I make sure that this is not happening because of the improper

RF design ? . In my case i took the statistics when an iphone 6 roaming.

First associated to AP 'a' (5) , then 'b' (5),then 'c'( 2.4) .

Rssi statics is below

ap 'a' Radio Signal Strength Indicator : -46 dBm
Signal to Noise Ratio : 52 dB

ap 'b' Radio Signal Strength Indicator : -46 dBm
Signal to Noise Ratio : 52 dB

ap 'c' Radio Signal Strength Indicator : -53 dBm
Signal to Noise Ratio : 45 dB

There was an RSSI change when it shifted to ap 'c' .

What is your expert advise
